Welcome to SOAR International Ministries
SOAR International Ministries, located in Kenai, Alaska, is a Christian mission dedicated to service and outreach in Russia. SOAR seeks the opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ by providing Christian ministry teams and needed humanitarian aid.
Teams minister through children's camp programs, women's ministries, orphanage outreach ministry, remodel projects, the "STUFF A STOCKING" project at Christmas, the "BASKETS OF HOPE" outreach at Easter and other ministries. Contact us if you are interested in joining one of these short term teams.
SOAR's ministry began in the Chukotka region of the Russian Far East located where the Bering Sea meets the Arctic Ocean across from Nome, Alaska. The people there are a mixture of Chukchi Indians, Upik Eskimos and European Russians. In this stark, cold, destitute land of treeless tundra and no connecting road system, villages are primarily accessible by air transportation. God has blessed SOAR with a Piper Navajo, an eight place twin engine airplane, equipped to fly into the Russian Far East. SOAR's hanger/ office facility in Alaska is conveniently located for ministry to this region.
During trips to build relationships with government officials in Moscow, God has opened ministry opportunities with at-risk children, such as orphans and street children in Moscow and the surrounding area.
Why the name SOAR? Service and Outreach Alaska to Russia. With difficulties such as the incredibly harsh climate, short winter days, rugged terrain and unimproved airstrips combined with the bureaucracy of working in Russia, it would be easy to become weary in this ministry. But God has given us the promise of Isaiah 40:31 "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will SOAR on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Above all, SOAR desires to bring the hope of the Gospel and the love of Christ to the people of Russia as God opens the doors and leads the way. We give Him the glory for all He has done!
